I searched for the tamil version of 'Qufe sera sera' online and came across a file which had both the English and Tamil versions of the song.I played it in class and asked the group to discuss about how music directors lift tunes from other language songs. At the end of the discussion, they had surprised one another by talking about a number of songs which were not original scores. One of them wanted to download the song 'Unfaithful' and show the others how it had been made into a tamil song. As it was almost time for lunch, I told them to go ahead and stay on and listen to the song. I also showed them how to find the lyrics. When I returned to the class room I saw them singing in chorus to a female voice. They were in tune and sang with some feeling, but their pronunciation was really funny.Guess we will all 'the music in our hearts bear, long after it is heard no more'

Expose them to some good world movies, so that they will know how many films (most are Tamil films) are only a copy of some ingenious creative work of a person incognito (at least to the Tamil audience). The film "Yogi", i have not seen the film but have heard the story with a bamboozling effect to know that, is a copy of a South African film "Tsotse", that is in turn is based on the novel with this eponymous title by Athol Fugard. I do not know whether any acknowledgement being made in the film about the South African inspiration.

What do you teach? And whom do you teach, i.e. which class?

Interesting to hear that you discuss music in class. Wish we had such teachers in our days!

!I am running an institute teaching people to speak in public and do well in interviews. I teach people from all age groups, kids, late teens, young and old adults too! I was lucky enough to study under some great teachers and am trying to pass on what they did for me! Thanks for your interest
